The prices here are quite affordable for generous portion sizes. The food is very tasty and I will be back soon
Good value ($8.95 for 22 pieces)Low quality ($8.95 for 22 pieces)
Good place for CHEAP and quick sushi. For the price, the guality is good Very nice owner as well. They really appreciate longtime customers
Unexpectedly cheap priced sushi restaurant, considering it's in the middle of downtown! An old, casual dine-in place good for lunch, take-out, or snack. The portion was really big compared to what we paid for. The freshness of the fish was OK, but the food tasted alright in general, and the Asian staff were friendly.
At first we were a bit intimidated by the auntie waitress who never smiles, but she definitely cares about the food, because when we pay for the bill and complimented on the food, she finally smiled(。>∀<。)Back to the sushi itself. The rolls are super inexpensive, but of great quality. BC roll is filled with freshly boiled salmon, and the avocado in California roll is fresh. Husband got the bento box, generous serving of assorted tempura and teriyaki beef.
Our favorite local place to get sushi. Amy is the best!Great food and great value. Come here if you’re looking to feed a small army or looking for a hole in the wall place with good food. Favorite: spicy combo B and the bento boxes
Not the worst sushi but not the best. Quality of the fish was good but hardly enough seaweed to wrap around the roll. We ordered takeout and were disappointed in the amount soy sauce/wasabi provided. Great prices 👍
If been here twice. It’s not very nice looking on the inside which is too bad. I’m sure they’d get more business if they cleaned it up. But the sushi is cheap and the man that works here is very kind!
It is a typical place for cheap sushi. They all taste the same, so if you want a quick bite for a decent price, you cannot go wrong here. It is on the oily side with the tempera and teriyaki dishes, and I found myself a little thirsty afterwards, so you have to be prepared for that.
Inexpensive and delicious! Lots of veggie choices.
Low price, high quality, and the hot foods are true Japanese Izakaya quality (the karaage!!). You know the authenticity of a sushi place by the matcha ice cream, and this place is not afraid to stay true to the bold anti-American flavors of the home country!!!
Salmon lover FTW. I go to jako every time I want good sushi for good price.
Gave me wrong combo. Too lazy to complain
Prices were quite low but so was the quality of sushi.
Sushi - 3.5 stars Appetizer - 1 starWe got yakitori/ agedashi tofu/ salmon nigiri/ toro nigiri/ negitoro maki Yakitori was dry and small, tofu didn’t taste good at all. Sushi was pretty good though.
the best deal in town for sushi
Our sentimental favourite. But that doesn't mean the food isn't fantastic and consistently great value. It will take you a few visits to try all their tasty rolls.
Good food, service and v well priced
Great spot for good tasting sushi for a cheap price. However I wouldn't recommend it if you're in a rush as the service is slow.
Staff was attentive as the place was empty when we got there. I ordered a bento box and was amazed at the low price . Quantities were just enough and my entire dinner was under $10 plus tip. Decor was rustic. I was there for the food. I'll go back! When we finished our meal, every table was full!
This is the best sushi place I have ever been to. I've been to Sushi restaurants all over greater Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Qatar, LA, and other places. Nothing compares to Jako's. And the problem with that is, I cannot eat Sushi anywhere else, nor do I care to try another place. They need to expand into Surrey. Excellent price, friendly service and the best spicy Tuna sushi you can find. This had been my go-to place for that past 10 years. I highly recommend it.
really good food and price! if you wanna good food instead of fancy food go there for sure!
I wish I could give zero stars. Terrible service. Terrible food. You'll wait more than an hour for a single roll to be prepared. Avoid avoid avoid.Update: The table next to us just found a mouse running around the place.
Lots of sushi options and all very fresh. Excited about the bento box options until I saw they all had tempura which I avoid.
Delicious food and wonderful service. Staff is incredibly sweet. Highly recommend 😬
I'm not from Vancouver but I make a point to eat at Jako Sushi every time I am in town. Their product is always fresh and prepared with care. They have a number of unique rolls such as the Jako roll. The service is always top notch and the guy there is super friendly. I highly recommend the Crazy roll. They must call it the Crazy roll because it's crazy good!! :) Do yourself a favor and visit Jako!!
I live in the prairie's The land of all you can eat sushi...But I live by the rule if you can't see the ocean don't eat the seafood....This is my happy place
Taste soso.... worst service The server don't greet a customer, don't give menu immediately. Even it was not busy, it took 20min to order something. They never smile. It will remain as the bad memory......
DON'T EAT HERE. terrible, crippling food poisoning. I had the Salmon combo (BC roll, salmon maki, spicy Salmon roll). Please don't eat here. COV health officials please check this place out.
I go here because it's close to work and I love the woman that works there ❤️
The food was definitely good. The service was fast and over all I did not pay much. However I can’t go over the fact that the windows were extremely dirty. If you ever use the washroom do jot wash your hands! Yes it is that dirty.
Delicious Sushi. Great Prices. Great Service.
A combo of 22 sushi pieces only for 9 bucks?! Amazing! The portion was for more than a person, and the quality was good. The takeaway was also good. And it was not busy for a Sunday lunch time.
This place sells good/quality for a VERY reasonable price. I can feed 2 people with 20$ and that's with a generous tip included or 10$ a person. I'm gonna continue to support this business! Cheers!
Looks terribly dirty and not very comforting, but the Sushi is very good and very cheap.
The real deal. Authentic and quiet with unbelievably competitive prices.
Outstanding sushi and sashimi for the price!!
Such a hidden gem. Try the spicy combo a and spicy sashimi. Can’t go wrong with these 2.
This place definitely is a hidden gem!! Super tasty and fresh sushi platters amd Teriyaki boxes 👌🏼 I went here 10 years ago and came back this year. Still the same servant and flod quality. The interior is not fancy or pretty but the prices are relatively cheap.
This is the best sushi place in van in my opinion. Ya it’s run down but the the two of them run an absolutely amazing place. I come here after work usually 4 times a week and she always greets me with a smile and he makes the food so quickly and perfectly. ❤️
It doesn't look like much, but this place does absolutely bomb veggie sushi at amazing prices. We crushed this 46 piece veggie plate for $26.
My best memory
Good food. Doesn't stay too close to traditional sushi but is great for western taste
My favourite place in Downtown Vancouver. The owners are super friendly, the food is amazing (and always fresh)... super! I strongly recommend it.
This place is all about value. It is one of the cheapest sushi restaurants in Vancouver. So because of that, it is not the most beautiful looking restaurant nor does it have the greatest service. But the food is awesome for the price. You can easily pay 40% more for the same quality at many places in Vancouver. I'm a big fan of this place and will continue to go for as long as they are open.
The food is very good and the chef very kind. The price is cheap and localization very convenient. However, the place need to be cleaned and the waitress needs to improve her service.
Tasty, good quality, good quantity, good price, good people. What more can you want?
Classic local Japanese joint. Reliable, always delicious and great value. Service and decor is not up to what Canadians would expect, but I kind like that about it, it's a bit more chilled out.
The food was good & the menu was reasonably priced. However, service was lacking & the interior was dark unorganized. Hand written menu items all over the walls & window were unattractive & distracting. Restrooms also need attention.
My favorite sushi place in the city! The owners are super nice and work hard - sushi is always fresh, tastes amazing, portions are big and prices low.I’ve been coming here for years and it looks exactly the way it did the first day, love this place!
